It was exactly six years ago today that I opened what you know as The Chris Pine Network. Thinking back on it now I don’t think I had even the slightest inclination as to how bright Chris’s future truly was. I remember the excitement and glee I felt when he was cast in the very first Star Trek. And now, only a few weeks since the release of the second film in the rebooted Star Trek franchise and I am unequivocally sure I made the right choice the day I decided to create my own little corner of the internet. And here is something you may not know; what you know as The Chris Pine Network was originally named “Pining for Chris” in our first year of existence, which you can see on our very first site design above. Cute, right?

Now I realize that in this day and age, that just about anyone can create some sort of page in dedication to whomever they adore. However, it stands to reason that building a website from scratch and maintaining it for years is hardly an easy job. It takes patience, and knowledge; not something easily created by pressing a button or sharing a link. Now see, I’ve always held myself to a higher standard than most, and for that I suffer from a terrible case of perfectionism. It often plagues me but ultimately, it makes me better a version of myself. It makes me want the best, and has pushed me to do what I know I am capable of. Which is why when I think about this site, an unreal amount of pride bubbles up from within. I truly feel as though I have put my heart and soul into the site through the years, and my passion is the entire reason it exists in the first place. There is a quote I am rather fond of. One you might say is my life motto, and that is; “Do things with passion, or not at all.” – And frankly, it is often my go to when I wonder if something is worth my time. And as it stands, for the past six years running this site, and being a dedicated fan of Chris has been my passion, and I am proud to say is still going strong.

Speaking of pride, let me just begin with how incredibly proud I am of Chris. I have seen every single one of his projects, and have been honored to watch him grow into this remarkably beautiful human being. Always well spoken, ridiculously intelligent, kind to his fans, and so incredibly talented that I could write an entire page describing to you how so, and it still would not do him any justice as they would be just words. I believe in his ability to slip into any character, bring it to life and make me feel for them. What I love most about Chris isn’t his handsome good looks, albeit he is hardly difficult to look at, am I right Seriously, though it is his brain that I love. I love his personality. I love him, for him. I always knew there was something great within him, even if I didn’t know I knew; I just knew. From the moment I saw him in Princess Diaries all the way until a few weeks ago, when I had the honor of watching him in Star Trek Into Darkness. He can still blow me away. What he delivered in the sequel was beyond the scope of what I knew to expect from him. I thought I had seen some of his best, but I was wrong, and that’s a wonderful thing to find out. He has, and continues to grow into what I think I always knew he would be, and that is an incredibly gifted actor, and for that I am truly proud. I know these are words most fans often say, and they’re usually tossed about so much that they’re meaningless, or sometimes creepy, let’s not lie. However, when I say that I love Chris Pine, I mean it. Not in ‘I am in love with him’ kind of way, or that I love him in the same way I love my family. No. When I say I love Chris, it is because I do. I love and respect him as a person, and as an actor in the sincerest form possible. I honestly can’t say I love and admire anyone as much I do you, Chris. So I want to thank you. Thank you for being the wonderful man that we have grown to know and love, and thank you for being generous enough to share yourself with the world, and allowing us the means to watch you morph into what many of us always knew was within you. And of course, thank you to who we, The Pine-Nuts refer to as Mama and Papa Pine, for raising such an extraordinary man, whom many would be lucky to learn a thing or two from.

And as you know this site has been apart of my life for six years now, and in that time the site has grown and I with it. Thinking about it now, I don’t think I can say I would be who I am today without the presence of the site. I’m sure that sounds silly, but it has helped guide me out of some rather difficult times in my life thus far, and has allowed me a healthy distraction amidst everything. What you might call a focal point through it all, and with that it has also brought me a new group of friends, whom I cherish. You may know them as The Pine-Nuts, but I know them as Richard, Holly, Brianne, Steph, and Stephanie. You guys have been around almost as long as the site, and I can’t imagine still being as invested in the site as much as I am now, six years later, without the friendship you all so generously offered. I love that we, along with a few others created something so special. I really don’t know what to say to you guys, except thank you.

I know I probably forgot a few of you, and I truly did not mean to. They’re just so many wonderful people I have met since I started the site that it is hard to remember them all. And this also applies to all of you lovely people whom I’ve only just begun getting to know.

I would like to take a moment to also say thank you to my mother and sister, whom are two of the most important people in my life. They have supported me, regardless of my chosen path, and that includes the site. I have managed to create Pine-Nuts out of them through the years, and their equaled love and support for Chris and his remarkable talent has only fueled my passion for continuing the site.

Lastly, I want to say thank you to each and every one of you for visiting the site these past six years. Especially those of you have taken the time to personally contact me to express just how much you appreciate my hard work, and your love for the site. You have no idea how much that helps fuel us webmasters, and always brightens my day. I look forward to many more years of supporting Chris together, wherever that may take us. XOXO

Congrats on 6 years online Holly! I’ve been a fan of Chris’s too since PD2. When I stumbled upon this site a few years ago, I just smiled. It was so great to find a site dedicated to Chris and his work. Thanks so much for your hard work in putting this site together and keeping us all informed of what Chris is doing. Here’s to many more years!

Congrats on the six years, Holly! You are a fantastic webmistress and an awesome person and I can’t imagine a person who could be more suited to running this site than you. oh man i just realised I put Holly instead of Carol on here. That’s what I get for texting while blogging. :’)

  5. Lionette says:

First of all, congrats on the site and such a long great run with it! I know, it’s hell of a job, and you guys are heroes. But you know that already anyway 😉

The second and the most important, I want to say how great it is to read a thing like this. Yes, all the fans say “I love him/her/them” about their favorite whoever, but it’s rare when it’s actually true. I can basically _feel_ the love from the text above and it’s so great. Being new to this wonderful world of Chris Pine, it’s very important for me to get the taste of what it is like here through the years. And it’s great. But I could feel it too, when I got into this, haha.

Thank you for doing this and even more – for doing it with such pure love and passion. That’s the best way possible.

Congratulations, Carol! I’m always loving this place and Chris Pine!

Holly, Thankyou so very much for this wonderful website which I discovered some four years ago and visit everyday (sometimes twice a day – just on the off chance I might miss something interesting ’bout Mister Pine) Congradulations on six years of untiring work.
I live in the UK, and am one of Mister Pine’s older admirers (more of an old pine fir cone than a nut, I guess). I also love his Dad, Robert !!! But at present Christopher has my undivided attention. I’m following his acting career with great interest. I can hardly believe how he’s grown from fledgling actor to movie megastar in so short a time. I knew he would though, when I saw his performance in ‘Smokin’ Aces’. Shortly after that I learned he would play Kirk in Star Trek. I can tell you I was so worried for him taking on the iconic role that William Shatner made his own (I’ve been a Shatner fan since I was eleven). Happily it has turned out well. Christopher is Kirk. I saw Star Trek ID today for the 10th time, and each time I cry during three specific scenes because Christopher’s performance is so moving. Another of his movies that has me in tears is ‘People Like Us’, especially the last few moments when his character and sister view their childhood movie.
God! that was such a damned good movie, such a pity it didn’t get the publicity and outing in the cinemas it deserved.
Sadly, I missed seeing Christopher in person on the ‘Graham Norton Show’ in London a few weeks ago. I was unable to travel. But hopefully, if he is over in the UK for the ‘Jack Ryan’ movie promotion- I assume there will be one? Well, if Mister Norton invites Christopher back, I’ll be there, front row seat and in full COUGAR mode. Be warned!!
I’m a big fan of Jack Ryan, so I’m really looking forward to seeing Christopher’s portrayal of that character. I’m pretty sure I won’t be disappointed.
Well, I’d best leave it at that or I will prattle on for pages.
Once again, thank you so much Holly for the website. Long may it reign.
My fond best wishes and hopes for his continuing success to Mister Pine. Take Care. Dee

Congrats for the 6 years you run the site. I saw Chris for the first time in PD2. And I was sold. He has a great humor. I really love this man.

  9. Kelly says:

Happy anniversary Carol! You are doing such a great job.

  10. D says:

Happy Anniversary! Congrats! Thank you for six wonderful, informative and certainly beautiful years. Love Chris Pine and this is the place to be. Truly appreciate your time and effort in making this the best place for anything CFine!

  11. Shelley says:

I want to apologize for my post earlier today as I had mis information in it, in which caused confusion. Carol – thank you for all of your hard work and dedication in keeping this site going and updating it for all of us who are fans of Chris. It is a great site and the only one I come to when I want to find out the lastest news about Chris. I wish you all the best in the future with this site!

  12. Vee says:

Happy anniversary and congratulations Carol! This is a brilliant site and by far the best one related to Chris so thanks for all your hard work on it. May he and therefore you be around for many many more years 🙂

  13. shellyj says:

Thanks for your wonderful site and i think you did a great job in describing Chris and his accomplishments. as a newcomer here I would just like to add that I think a lot of his appeal ( aside from everything u mentioned) is that he comes across as a decent caring human being with values . we don’t see that very much today. i am looking forward to seeing Star Trek into darkness, I have seen most of his other movies and yet Princess Diaries is still my favorite! One critic wrote that PD was too predictable. in a world like today where we’ve had 9/11, suicide bombers, killers in movie theaters etc. etc., when i want to relax and go into never , never land , i am glad to see something predictable, warm, romantic and humorous
i hope that as time goes by Chris stays Chris. Fame and fortune have a way of changing people . At the moment he has seemingly done a good job of retaining his innate humility and not letting all the huppla get to him. I would hate to see him running around town with some bimbo on the arm . I’d rather see him with some beautiful intelligent great girl and one day soon follow in his parents footsteps. To me it seems his parents did a great job!

    Hats off!

  15. Estrella says:

Good job and keep it going like this! I’m quite new to this site, will keep an eye on updates regularly from now. Had the site added to my RSS feeds through the amazing Feedly.

  16. Hakka says:

I come here once on a while, but just felt the need to say “thank you”. Thank you for this wonderfully managed site. And I also feel what you’re saying, about such a huge project making a better person, and even about the cons of being always striving for more, for beign a perfectionist. 🙂

  17. Sue says:

I too am an older fan. I so appreciate getting accurate information on Chris. Thank you Carol for all your hard work! I’m so glad Chris is ambitious and has taken on so many projects because I can’t get enough of his smile and those beautiful blues. I love listening to him when he appears on talk shows and it does seem like even though he is quickly becoming a big star he maintains his humility. I hope he can continue to be the nice guy he appears to be. I hope he finds a young lady that he will want to stay married to for the rest of his life … not an easy task I know. Lastly I hope he will rethink his status as an agnostic. Such a beautiful human being should end up in the kingdom of God (I’m praying for that).

  18. Sue says:

I wish to leave a politically correct message this time. Carol, a word of thanks for providing and maintaining this sight and Happy Anniversary. My message about Chris is not only do I find his blue eyes and smile irresistable, I also think he is one of the most talented actors out there. I am enjoying going back and seeing some of his earlier movies. I really enjoyed Blind Dating. It was sweet and Chris pretty much convinced me of his blindness and maybe sent a message of hope to those who are blind. Happy upcoming birthday, Chris. Enjoy…33 is still pretty young! (Carol, Hope you can somehow convey well wishes to Chris from his fans)
