Channing Tatum Organizes TEN YEAR Reunion, invites Chris

Out to prove he’s more than just an immensely pretty face, Channing Tatum hopes to make it as a producer as well. We heard about his first effort, the thriller The Contortionist’s Handbook, earlier this month. Project number two is an ensemble drama entitled Ten Year, which reunites a group of friends a decade after their high school graduation. Naturally, Tatum intends to star in addition to his producerial duties, shared with producing partner Reid Carolin (Stop-Loss) as well as Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey (Eclipse).

According to THR, Tatum hired his Dear John scribe Jamie Linden to write and direct, with a few of Tatum’s friends in mind for the ensemble. There’s a role set aside for wife Jenna Dewan (Step Up), and the wishlist includes Chris Pine (Star Trek), Anna Faris (Observe and Report), Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation), and Scott Porter (Friday Night Lights). There are no deals in place yet, but if Tatum and Co. can land that cast, I’m sold. I actually tend to respect Tatum more than most males in my age bracket, and like the conceit enough that I imagine I could get behind even a Pine-less Ten Year. The filmmakers hope to assemble financing and cast in time for a November shoot.

Lost’s Jack Bender May Direct Chris Pine In Moscow

SOURCE: LATINO REVIEW – Tom Clancy’s popular character Jack Ryan could make his way back onto the big screen with the help another Jack. “Lost” director Jack Bender is in in the final strings to be on board for another Jack Ryan film. The title of it is “Moscow”, a little bit of a prequel in a sense where Jack (Chris Pine) is fresh out of the Marines and works as an analyst for a Russian billionaire. Of course things immediately get a bit tangled up as he ends up going on the run after being implicated in a terrorist plot.

There’s no word at the moment when Paramount expects to get “Moscow” off the ground.

SOURCE: CINEMA BLEND – The movie will be kind of a franchise reboot, taking place at an earlier period in Ryan’s career than what we saw in The Sum of All Fears/A Clear and Present Danger/Patriot Games/The Hunt for Red October. Pine will play Ryan just as he’s getting out of the Marines, going to work for a Russian billionaire but eventually going on the run (of course) because he’s been implicated as part of a terrorist plot. Given the huge variety of Lost episodes that Bender directed and how often he was charged with handling action, there’s pretty much no reason he won’t be up to the task of this one. Last we heard from producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura they were hoping to start filming in late winter or early spring, so if things stay on course, we’ll see Bender directing Pine as Jack Ryan before his old boss J.J. Abrams turns him back into Captain Kirk.

Tom Hardy Steps In for Sam Worthington in ‘This Means War’

Back in June, we told you that Fox had offered Sam Worthington a starring role in Fox’s McG-directed action/romantic comedy This Means War, but we also warned you that Worthington would likely “sit on the project for awhile and eventually wander off,” considering actors have been bouncing into and out of this project since at least 2001, when it was supposed to star Chris Rock and Martin Lawrence. Well, the Avatar star did wander off (and rather quickly), but now Inception’s Tom Hardy has stepped in and closed — closed, we say! — a deal to star in the spy role that had originally been offered to Worthington. He’ll play one of the spies (opposite Chris Pine) who wage black-ops warfare on each other when they both fall for the same girl (Reese Witherspoon, who’s also producing, along with Will Smith’s company, Overbrook Entertainment).

Chris Pine Treks from Big Screen to Stage

“Star Trek’s” recent Captain Kirk aka Chris Pine, is taking a break from the big screen and enjoying treading the boards in his new play, “The Lieutenant of Inishmore.”

Playing an Irish terrorist on a quest to save his cat, Chris told “Extra” that this play is like “being a rock star. It’s two hours, it’s quick, it’s fast.”

Pine is best known for his role as Kirk in “Star Trek,” but the eligible bachelor doesn’t plan on jumping into another sci-fi superhero role anytime soon.

“I don’t think I’d look good in a spandex outfit, to be quite honest with you, so, um, I think Superman is definitely out,” he told “Extra’s” Lauren Sanchez.

Return to Chris Pine Network Video Archive

Pine, 29, is turning the big 3-0 next month, and this bachelor is perfectly happy being single. “There’s something about… the feeling that I can pick up at anytime and leave, leave no trace kind of a thing,” he said. He’s also content living in his apartment with the same couch he’s had for nine years.

Chris didn’t always have the desire to be an actor, and was more drawn to sports while growing up. “I played basketball and baseball. I was no good by any stretch.”

It wasn’t until college that Pine used theater as a way to make friends. “It satisfied everything I enjoyed about using your mind and being in front of people and the charge of that… it was just a good fit for me. Ironically enough, I had been around it all my life.”
