okay well he says it’s “a good movie” not “a great movie” and he doesn’t even really talk about Chris BUT STILL. I was glad to see that someone else was also disappointed that Carriers didn’t get a wider release. Especially since that someone is a widely popular best-selling author and blogger for Entertainment Weekly. In his article this month, Mr. King bemoans the fact that small-scale, well made films like Carriers can’t even get shown in all fifty states, while Transformers 2 is playing on 5 screens at your local AMC.

I can honestly say I have never watched Star Trek in my life, unless it was brief and even at that I barely had much knowledge of any of the series’s interesting facts and legacies of which it carried. I think it is a great action flick and it doesn’t move to fast or to slow to explain the story at hand. The dynamic between Chris and Zachary as Kirk and Spock was wonderful. Their chemistry was definitely noticeable and they were great on screen together but even more so when apart. What I really did not expect was the comedy throughout the movie, more so with Kirk. I hadn’t expected the film to produce much comedic humor than a few sprinkles but I was wrong. It not only made you laugh, jump due to the sudden people and or objects jumping on the screen suddenly and a result of the masterful sound effects and music. I underestimated the beginning and was truly shocked when I found myself so wrapped in up in intensity of all the events occurring that I actually cried briefly when George Kirk so bravely sacrificed his life to save the lives of everyone else. I can put most of that emotional pull on Jennifer Morrison as she has always managed to convey the emotion directly to whomever is watching and really cause you to truly feel. So all elements combined it was a bittersweet beginning to what I believe is another amazing and larger than life series of movies.

Chris done a amazing job and I don’t believe that word truly suffices how great he was in his role. I honestly believe this is just the beginning. Dear World, meet Chris Pine.

Thanks so much to Laura for letting me know about this, I think it’s wonderful!

In my ongoing fight against mean spirited journalism, I feel I should wade in and defend my NBF, Chris Pine who according to the British Sun newspaper, “was really annoyed because Simon got all the laughs at the premiere — both during the film and on the red carpet.” He then went on to “shun” the party. Let’s just be clear about this, Chris really isn’t the type to shun; he’s not a shunner and nobody at the party (that he most certainly did attend) felt his enshunment. He actually spent a good hour posing for photos with my family, who for the next 24 hours seemed incapable of saying anything other than, “Chris is lovely, isn’t he?” I’m guessing the story was twisted from generous statements he made on the red carpet about his fellow actors that (horror of horrors) he might have expressed with a hint of irony. Like me saying “damn you Pine you handsome talented bastard!” as I do every night before bed.

Trust me, you are going to love Chris’s Kirk. He demonstrates all the swagger of Shatner and combines it with a lightness and likability which is all his own. If anyone walks off with this movie, it’s The Pine .

As the movie kicks off the world tour leading up to its May arrival in the U.S., Paramount announced it will have bloggers using mobile technology to bring fan-submitted questions to the movie’s stars. Trekkers are invited to submit questions for director J.J. Abrams and cast members Eric Bana, Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto via Twitter using an #asktrek hashtag.

Video responses to those questions will be published to a Star Trek channel using Phreadz, alongside a live Twitter feed and photos via Flickr. That channel will also feature a live Ustream feed from the red carpet.

It goes live at 7 a.m. GMT, Tuesday before being archived for global consumption.
