Chris attended Wednesday (March 9) a special screening for his upcoming film All The Old Knives, in Los Angeles! We’ve updated our gallery with photos from the red carpet and after-party, and you can read an interview Chris gave to The Hollywood Reporter in which he speaks about the movie (but also about Star Trek 4).

According to star and executive producer Chris Pine, All the Old Knives is more than just another spy-thriller.

“Certainly it’s about a spy, but it’s really more about a man who’s madly in love with a woman who gets wrapped up in a shitty situation,” Pine said about the film. “Really, for me, the heart of it is this love story.”

On Wednesday evening, the cast and crew of Amazon Studios’ All the Old Knives gathered at The London West Hollywood hotel for a special screening of the film, followed by an afterparty. Pine and fellow star Thandiwe Newton took to the red carpet, along with director Janus Metz Pedersen and a guest list including Keegan-Michael Key, Vikings: Valhalla star Sam Corlett and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actor Gavin Leatherwood.

The film is based on a novel of the same name by Olen Steinhauer, who also penned the screenplay in a team effort with the director and cast.

“We did a lot of work on the script in all the prep. We did a lot of polishing and rewriting, and I did a lot of readings with Chris and Thandiwe, in order to strengthen what was already there — a really good script that brought us all together,” Metz told THR. “Olen was part of that, too. We had a great collaboration.”

The film follows Henry [played by Pine] and Celia [Newton] as ex-lovers and spies who meet over dinner to reminisce about their time together. As the night goes on, both seek to get to the bottom of a disastrous hijacking years prior that continues to haunt the CIA.

It was announced yesterday that Chris Pine and his Star Trek co-stars Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho and Simon Pegg are currently in negotiations to return for the fourth film from the franchise. The announcement was made by director J.J. Abrams during the Paramount Investors Day Presentation. You can read the full article, posted by Variety, below.

They’re boldly going back.

Paramount is planning to enter negotiations for “Star Trek” stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho and Simon Pegg to return to the Enterprise for their fourth tour of duty in the venerable sci-fi franchise.

The announcement was made by J.J. Abrams during the Paramount Investors Day Presentation on Feb. 15.

“We are thrilled to say that we are hard at work on a new ‘Star Trek’ film that will be shooting by the end of the year that will be featuring our original cast and some new characters that I think are going to be really fun and exciting and help take ‘Star Trek’ into areas that you’ve just never seen before,” Abrams said. “We’re thrilled about this film, we have a bunch of other stories that we’re talking about that we think will be really exciting, so can’t wait for you to see what we’re cooking up. But until then, live long and prosper.”

The six actors first stepped into their respective iconic roles as Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Bones, Sulu and Scotty in 2009’s “Star Trek,” directed by Abrams, which reset the “Trek” timeline and allowed for the reboot to exist unencumbered from the hundreds of hours of “Trek” continuity that had come before. The actors returned in two sequels, 2013’s “Star Trek Into Darkness,” also directed by Abrams, and 2016’s “Star Trek Beyond,” directed by Justin Lin.

Abrams is producing the new, as-yet-untitled film through Bad Robot, with Matt Shakman (“WandaVision”) directing from a screenplay by Josh Friedman (“Avatar 2”) and Cameron Squires (“WandaVision”) based on a earlier draft by Lindsey Beer (“Sierra Burgess Is a Loser”) and Geneva Robertson-Dworet (“Captain Marvel”).

Paramount was close to bringing back this cast once before: In 2018, S.J. Clarkson (“Jessica Jones”) had signed up to direct a sequel that would have reunited Pine’s Kirk with his late father, played by Chris Hemsworth reprising his performance from the 2009 “Star Trek.” That film never materialized, however, after Paramount reportedly couldn’t close a deal with Pine and Hemsworth.

Amazon Studios has nabbed a feature pitch with “Wonder Woman” star Chris Pine attached to play John Dean, a pivotal figure in the Watergate scandal.

The film will follow the life and political saga of Dean, who served as White House counsel for President Richard Nixon from July 1970 through April 1973. Amazon bought the development project from producers Bob Cooper — a veteran Hollywood player — under his banner Landscape Entertainment and prolific screenwriter Billy Ray (“Gemini Man,” “Overlord” and the English-language adaptation of “The Secret in Their Eyes”) of Home Run Productions.

Dean himself will serve as executive producer on the project with his manager Rick Berg. Up-and-coming screenwriter Evan Parter, whose scripts have appeared more than once on the annual Black List, is penning the project.

Billed by the press as a “connoisseur of cover-ups,” Dean became a crucial Nixon whistle-blower by offering testimony that implicated the president in the historic cover-up. In exchange, he served four months of house arrest and plead guilty to obstruction of justice. He’s since written numerous books and serves as a political commentator. In recent years, he’s been highly critical of the Republican party and President Donald Trump. (Source)

Chris Pine is attached to play iconic CBS newsman Walter Cronkite in Newsflash. This is the Ben Jacoby-scripted drama that takes place on November 22, 1963, the day President John F Kennedy was assassinated in Texas. Similar to the cultural atom-splitting moments captured in films like The Social Network, Newsflash covers the day that television network news came of age, and that Cronkite became the most trusted TV newsman voice of America. Even if he wasn’t first to announce the president had died (NBC did that).

The drama also focuses on Don Hewitt, who was Cronkite’s producer and helped navigate the chaos in an unimaginably tragic day in America. The drama is being mobilized for a January start Greg Silverman’s Stampede, with Silverman producing with Adam Kolbrenner. Jacoby wrote a much admired script called The Ravine, a Chinatown-like look at how landowners were pushed out of Chavez Ravine to make room for the Dodgers baseball team that was moving out of Brooklyn.
