Our gallery was updated with pictures of Chris, alongside director Ava DuVernay and actresses Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Oprah Winfrey and the lovely Storm Reid on stage to present “A Wrinkle in Time“.
During the panel, Chris revealed he never read the book, but he accepted to be part of the project because he wanted to work with Ava. He also said, while on press line, how was to work with Ava and with Patty Jenks.
One of the most anticipated films coming out next year is Ava DuVernay’s “A Wrinkle in Time.” Not only is it the first feature that DuVernay has released since the critically-acclaimed “Selma” in 2014, but it also is the first time a black woman has directed a film with a budget over $100 million. With that being said, it’s clear that there’s a lot of hype surrounding “A Wrinkle in Time,” and at Disney’s D23, we finally got our first look at some footage.
The film follows a teen girl who embarks on a cosmic adventure to find her long, lost father. Along the way, she meets three beings that help guide her on her adventure. The cast for this film is incredible, headlined by Oprah Winfrey, Mindy Kaling, and Reese Witherspoon as Mrs. Which, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Whatsit, respectively. Joining those ladies are Storm Reid as Meg and Chris Pine as her father, Dr. Alex Murry.
“A Wrinkle in Time” opens on March 9, 2018.
Edit: Check in our gallery the poster also released today, plus trailer screen captures.
Entertainment Weekly has the first look of A Wrinkle in Time, including two stills of Chris as Mr. Murry.
Disney’s upcoming fantasy epic is about an ordinary teenager named Meg (newcomer Storm Reid) who’s whisked on a cosmic adventure to find her missing scientist father (Chris Pine) with the help of three chimerical celestial beings who help her “wrinkle” time and space: philosophizing Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling), inquisitive Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon), and wizened Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey).
To EW, director Ava DuVernay talks about Chris:
Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Chris Pine play Meg’s parents, two world-renowned physicists, the latter of whom disappears under mysterious circumstances. “Chris is the first full-on heart-throb type of actor that I’ve ever worked with,” DuVernay notes. “That’s how the world sees him. But I always just saw a damn good actor. I saw Z for Zachariah and Hell or High Water, and I just knew I wanted him because I saw, that dude’s got chops.”
A Wrinkle in Time is set for released in the U.S. on March 9, 2018.
A Wrinkle in Time, based on the classic novel by Madeline L’Engle and directed by Ava DuVernay, is coming out in March and the first teaser trailer is going to premiere at the D23 Expo this weekend!
The announcement was made by Ava on her official twitter page a few days ago. The presentation will be made presumably during the Live Action Films panel taking place on the morning of Saturday, July 15.
It’s currently unclear if the first look will arrive online following its expo debut, but given the director’s announcement, it is likely the general public will see it that day also.
Starring Storm Reid, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Levi Miller, Deric McCabe, Chris Pine, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael Peña, Zach Galifianakis and Oprah Winfrey, A Wrinkle in Time is released in the U.S. on March 9, 2018, followed by the UK on March 23.
