Carriers to get a early rental release.

carriersdvd Carriers to get a early rental release. While the Paramount Vantage thriller CARRIERS (see our review here) is slated for a DVD release on December 29th (pre-order here), the rental market will get an early peek starting next Tuesday. The film has been scheduled for a December 8th rental release, with the title being made available through most DVD and/or digital rental channels. The film had a limited theatrical run back in September that bypassed most major markets (see story here) after being buzzed-about for over a year.

In a recent FANGORIA RADIO interview, filmmakers Alex Pastor and David Pastor revealed details on their next foray into genre fare, including their own take on the vampire/werewolf genre. Click here for details on that, and check out the latest trailer for CARRIERS below.

Paramount: ‘Carriers’ to get a December Rental release

After being dumped in theaters this past September, the Chris Pine (Star Trek) thriller Carriers is coming to rental DVD on December 8, 2009 from Paramount Home Entertainment. A full DVD release is yet to be announced, but is expected in 4 to 6 weeks after the release. Determined to escape a deadly virus, four teens set out in search of an uncontaminated refuge. As they travel across the decimated landscape of America, they encounter a truth far more horrifying than the virus they are trying to survive.

Co-starring Piper Perabo (Coyote Ugly), Emily VanCamp (“Brothers & Sisters”), and Emmy®-nominee Chris Meloni (“Law and Order: SVU”) CARRIERS is a terrifying journey into a world where laws and rules no longer apply, and no one can be trusted – not even your friends. The film was written and directed by Alex & David Pastor.

The CARRIERS DVD is presented in widescreen enhanced for 16:9 televisions with Dolby Digital English 5.1 Surround, Spanish 5.1 Surround and English, French and Spanish subtitles. The DVD will be available for sale four to six weeks after its rental street date.

‘Carriers’ to get a December Release in the UK!

Carriers Zombie 200x128 Carriers to get a December Release in the UK! Given his recent role as Captain James T. Kirk in this year’s phenomenally successful Star Trek, you’d be forgiven for forgetting that Chris Pine is an actor of many faces and of course, many roles.

Continuing their love-affair with all things Zombie, yet another scary, disease-ridden film has made it’s way down from the Hollywood Hills and stars the aforementioned Mr. Pine – and that film is CARRIERS.

Carriers gets reconized by Stephen King

I’d like to thank Amber of our Chris community over on Livejournal for scanning and posting this great article. This is what Amber had to say in her post:

okay well he says it’s “a good movie” not “a great movie” and he doesn’t even really talk about Chris BUT STILL. I was glad to see that someone else was also disappointed that Carriers didn’t get a wider release. Especially since that someone is a widely popular best-selling author and blogger for Entertainment Weekly. In his article this month, Mr. King bemoans the fact that small-scale, well made films like Carriers can’t even get shown in all fifty states, while Transformers 2 is playing on 5 screens at your local AMC.

Latest batch of movie reviews for ‘Carriers’

I have found & collected some fairly good reviews for ‘Carriers’. You’ll find that, no, they are not praising but this film wasn’t even expected to see theater time from my knowledge until Chris’s big success in ‘Star Trek’ this past summer. I do have to say I’m pleased with the overall reviews and ratings I’ve read for ‘Carriers’, as none are insulting or ridiculing, merely a breakdown of the plot and comments on the story which the movie and the characters are trying to tell.

All four actors do a fine job fleshing out their roles, with Pine demonstrating a less appealing side of the cockiness he brought to James T. Kirk and well-matched with the spunky Perabo.

Actually, the only bad thing about “Carriers” is its trailer, which gives moviegoers the false impression that the feature film may evolve into a zombie flick. By no stretch of the imagination does this movie belong to the horror genre. Rather, it is a methodical thriller about the humanity’s response to its own demise. And, as the movie suggests, that is the most terrifying monster of all.

Now, contrary to what the trailer, ad campaign, and net buzz would lead you to believe, Carriers is not a zombie movie. Yes, there is a viral epidemic and yes, it wipes out most of the human race. But rather than turning those infected into violent, mindless, flesh-eating ghouls, it simply brings them a slow and painful death. And in a way, this helps the film.

Chris Pine carries the film for much of its length. As the group’s de facto leader, his character Brian is a charming prick who does anything necessary to keep himself and his brother alive. The group’s motto, “the sick are already dead,” leads this film into morally ambiguous territory and forces the characters to make difficult decisions. In this world, if the disease doesn’t get you, the survivors might.

Carriers release to be even more limited

carriers Carriers release to be even more limited Well this is a bummer. Carriers wasn’t even on my radar until Paramount Vantage put out a chain of intense trailers showing a world ravaged by viral pandemic. Now, according to Fangoria, I’m not even going to have the opportunity to see Chris Pine and Piper Perabo wear cute surgical masks while they try to survive the end of times. You can’t go from “What’s Carriers?” to “Man, I can’t wait to see Carriers!” to “What do you mean I can’t see Carriers?”. That’s just mean, Paramount Vantage.

But if you live in one of the following cities that isn’t Austin, TX, September 4th should be a good day to wear a surgical mask of your own to the theater and freak out everyone sitting next to you:
