A little bummed we don’t get it sooner, but thankful it’s only an extra few weeks. 🙂

Today.com — There will be no Christmas celebration with Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.

Paramount Picture and Skydance Productions announced Thursday that the Chris Pine thriller will move from it’s Christmas Day opening to January 17, 2014.

No reason was given for the release date change, but the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday can be a popular moving-going weekend.

Jack Ryan is directed by Kenneth Branagh and takes the popular movie character back to his origins — an injured Marine (Pine) recruited by a CIA veteran played by Kevin Costner. The two are pitted against a Russian oligarch played by Branagh.

The Cold War setting has been moved to the present day.

It’s probably a good thing they moved the opening date. It would get swallowed up by all the Christmas movies. January is a better roll out and hopefully it will receive some good attention from the critics.
