Chris attended Wednesday (March 9) a special screening for his upcoming film All The Old Knives, in Los Angeles! We’ve updated our gallery with photos from the red carpet and after-party, and you can read an interview Chris gave to The Hollywood Reporter in which he speaks about the movie (but also about Star Trek 4).

According to star and executive producer Chris Pine, All the Old Knives is more than just another spy-thriller.

“Certainly it’s about a spy, but it’s really more about a man who’s madly in love with a woman who gets wrapped up in a shitty situation,” Pine said about the film. “Really, for me, the heart of it is this love story.”

On Wednesday evening, the cast and crew of Amazon Studios’ All the Old Knives gathered at The London West Hollywood hotel for a special screening of the film, followed by an afterparty. Pine and fellow star Thandiwe Newton took to the red carpet, along with director Janus Metz Pedersen and a guest list including Keegan-Michael Key, Vikings: Valhalla star Sam Corlett and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actor Gavin Leatherwood.

The film is based on a novel of the same name by Olen Steinhauer, who also penned the screenplay in a team effort with the director and cast.

“We did a lot of work on the script in all the prep. We did a lot of polishing and rewriting, and I did a lot of readings with Chris and Thandiwe, in order to strengthen what was already there — a really good script that brought us all together,” Metz told THR. “Olen was part of that, too. We had a great collaboration.”

The film follows Henry [played by Pine] and Celia [Newton] as ex-lovers and spies who meet over dinner to reminisce about their time together. As the night goes on, both seek to get to the bottom of a disastrous hijacking years prior that continues to haunt the CIA.

The team behind the upcoming “Wonder Woman 1984” took to Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con Saturday to discuss the upcoming sequel film and debut some footage for the assembled fans.

Chris Pine, director Patty Jenkins, and Gal Gadot were all present at the panel. Pine kicked it off by quashing any hopes that he’d reveal how his character could still be alive for the sequel when it had appeared in “Wonder Woman” that he’d met his death.

“It’s something I’m super excited for everybody to see,” said Jenkins. “[Chris] is a very important part of our movie.”

Vulture has a description of the footage shown in the Hall H, and you can read it below:

The latter two actors (Pine and Kristen Wiig) didn’t appear in the clip we were shown, a fun action sequence that featured Gadot’s Wonder Woman fending off gunmen in a very 80’s-looking mall food court. (If you’ve been paying attention, it’s the same one we saw a confused Pine wandering around in his first still from the film.) As she strides toward the evildoers, Wonder Woman catches the attention of a grinning little girl, and her priority immediately becomes protection. “Hold tight,” says our heroine as she picks up the girl and super-hurls her away, sliding the kid across the food-court floor. Don’t worry: The girl giggles the entire time, loving the ride, and crashes safely into some plush teddy bears.

After that, Wonder Woman focuses her attention on the bad guys and quickly disarms them, crushing their guns with her super-strength. As a final flourish, she whips out her lasso and entangles both men with it, then pulls a move straight out of Atomic Blonde by using their weight as ballast to leap off the top floor of the mall and land three stories down below. It’s a sequence with pep and pop that feels like something Lynda Carter would love, and it was followed by an unrelated shot of Wonder Woman running at super-speed through a city street, so fast that the passersby might as well be standing in place.
