McG Considered Alternate “This Means War” Endings
Should Reese Witherspoon choose Tom Hardy or Chris Pine at the end of “This Means War”? Turns out there was once a potential reality where she wouldn’t have had to make that decision. Movieline reports that, during a press day for the flick, director McG admitted that he almost released two different endings with Witherspoon choosing a different guy. We’d opt for option three, where the two men end up with one another.

In other “War” news, the film has undergone yet another release date shift: instead of opening on Valentine’s Day, it’ll now only host previews on the holiday and will open wide on February 17.

In random Chris news…
Katherine Schwarzenegger, 22, recently got the chance to interview the stars of the upcoming movie, “This Means War” — Chris Pine, Tom Hardy and Reese Witherspoon — Friday after scoring the opportunity to be a guest correspondent for “Entertainment Tonight.”

“I was terrified,” she told People magazine the day after the interview. “Before I went in there, I was like, ‘I’m going to throw up. I’m going to have projectile vomit in their faces, I’m so nervous!’”

Though she admits to feeling a little sheepish about being handed such a plum opportunity at such a young age — noting “Chris Pine is gorgeous!”

William Shatner was recently a guest at the Wizard World convention in New Orleans the other day. While there, Shatner was asked by a fan if he ever hated Captain Kirk but all the while he was happy to let everyone know was also well aware that the Star Trek sequel is now filming, and he noted that, having been impressed by the work of Chris Pine in Star Trek (2009), Kirk is in good hands.

“He’s a lovely young man, who is really talented and looks really good,” Shatner said, praising Pine. “He’s got the demeanor, the body and the voice. So along with being a good actor, he’s got all the right equipment.”

In other Star Trek related news…

Chris has been quoted saying that British stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Alice Eve have been settling in well on the set of the Star Trek sequel.

The 31-year-old actor, who plays Captain James T Kirk in JJ Abrams’s film reboot of the classic series, took time out of filming the sci-fi blockbuster to attend the premiere of his latest film, This Means War.

And he revealed that filming so far has been “fantastic”, and that his new co-stars are fitting in well.

Pine commented:

“They’re getting on great. We have a really good, warm, inclusive group from the first one and I think everybody’s kind of getting the hang of things and fitting in quite nicely.”

Filmmaker Mcg shot a variety of endings to This Means War to prevent audiences from discovering which leading man Reese Witherspoon picks in the romantic comedy.

British actor Tom Hardy and Star Trek hunk Chris Pine play secret agents and best friends who fight over the blonde beauty – but not even the trio knew the plot’s outcome as they filmed different scenarios for director Mcg.

Witherspoon tells Empire magazine, “We shot endings where I could end up with Tom, or I could end up with Chris, or I could end up alone… “, while Pine jokes, “Or the one where Tom and I could end up together. It’s a very progressive film.”

Pine also admits there was plenty of rivalry on the set as he and Hardy competed with one another to impress Witherspoon.

He explains, “It’s like being in the schoolyard: a beautiful girl and two red-blooded guys. It was basically a constant flirt-off – who could charm Reese and make her laugh the most… Tom won on the accent and lips front. I won on eyebrows and self-deprecation…

“Ladies love the accent and I’m not packing any heat in that department. There’d be no shame losing to Tom. If I had to lose to anyone, it’s fine if I lose to Tom Hardy. Of course, that would never happen. Ever.”
