One of the movies that has a ton of heat already focused on it even before the Sundance Film Festival begins is “Z For Zachariah.” Chris Pine, a brunette Margot Robbie, and Chiwetel Ejiofor co-star in this story that takes place “in the wake of a disaster that wipes out most of civilization,” according to the official synopsis. “Two men and a young woman find themselves in an emotionally-charged love triangle as the last known survivors.”

Check it out embedded at the top of this story. What gets me is that look from Ejiofor at the end of the clip, just as it fades to black. Things are not going to go well between those three. I’m also struck by how transformative something as simple as hair color is on Robbie. She’s a lovely young woman, but looking at her here, I don’t see even a hint of the Duchess, her character from “Wolf Of Wall Street.” I have a feeling Robbie is someone we’re going to be watching for many, many years to come.

And fingers crossed this is a great role for Chris Pine. I thought he was amazing in Joe Carnahan’s “Stretch,” but no one saw the film. Pine is too interesting to be locked down only doing big Hollywood action movies. There is a stealth freak hiding in there, and I want to see more and more filmmakers try to push him to new places onscreen.

“Z For Zachariah” premieres this Saturday at 8:30 PM at the Sundance Film Festival.

The Coast Guard thriller will open on the October 9 date originally set for the animated family film, which is pushed to 2016

Disney Studios on Tuesday swapped the release dates of two high-profile movies. The Chris Pine Coast Guard thriller “The Finest Hours” will open on the October 9, the date that the Jon Favreau-directed remake of “The Jungle Book” had been set for. The animated family film will now open on April 15, 2016.

The new date will put “The Finest Hours,” which co-stars Casey Affleck and is directed by Craig Gillespie, up against Relativity’s Halle Berry thriller “Kidnap” and Warner Bros.’ remake of “Vacation.”

Star Trek actor Chris Pine, his Star Trek director J.J. Abrams (also working on a little movie called Star Wars: The Force Awakens), and Gravity filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón will join Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs on Jan. 15 to reveal the contenders for the 87th Academy Awards.

Usually, only the 12 celebrity and movie categories are announced before a global TV audience, with one actor and the Academy president doing the presentation. Telecast producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan are adding extra announcers this time because now all 24 categories will be revealed live.

Pine, who has a film in contention this year with Into the Woods, will reveal most of the traditional dozen categories alongside Boone Isaacs, and Abrams and Cuarón will announce the competitors in many of the other behind-the-scenes fields that were previously only revealed via press release.

Here’s how next Thursday’s announcement will go down:

5:38 a.m. PT – Pine and Boone Isaacs will announce:

– Best Actress
– Best Supporting Actor
– Best Supporting Actress
– Cinematography
