In the summer of 2009, Chris gained a great many fans thanks to his role as Capt. James T. Kirk in one of the most beloved franchises in the world: Star Trek. A small group of fans, old and new, took to to discuss this talented and charismatic actor. Before long, the group had dubbed itself “The Pine-Nuts.”

That same summer, Chris appeared in a production of Farragut North at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles. Closing night, a group of Pine-Nuts attended the show to support Chris’s professional efforts and presented him with a book of letters from Pine-Nuts all over the world. These letters were an introduction of sorts for future charitable projects that The Pine-Nuts would involve themselves in.

Since the summer of 2009, The Pine-Nuts have been a quiet force in support of Chris’s career, attending his various plays and professional appearances.
