Chris Pine talked “Star Trek” with the Dish Rag at the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn.’s annual installation luncheon, during which the group hands out gobs of cash to deserving charities.

“The big thing I’ve been surprised by is is how many people who weren’t fans who we were able to grab into the fold,” Pine said. “To make ‘Star Trek’ accessible to a wider audience and to a new generation of fans is a wonderful thing, and I’m looking forward to getting back into the second one.”

What’s the scoop on the new “Star Trek 2”?

“I know as much as anybody else,” Pine admitted. “They want to get stuff going for 2011 so I don’t know if that means we’ll shoot next year or what, but I haven’t heard anything one way or the other.”

Is the whole cast coming back? “As far as I know, yeah.”

All we’ve heard is that the immortal phrase “He’s dead, Jim” will probably be uttered and that “Heroes” star Greg Grunberg is pushing to play the classic ST villain Harry Mudd.

You remember Mudd, don’t you? He’s the character who let all those trilling Tribbles loose on the Enterprise.

Does this mean there will be Tribbles? We can’t wait!!

Next up for Chris is “Unstoppable,” which he starts shooting in the fall. “To be doing a movie with Denzel Washington and Tony Scott is like a kid’s dream,” he says. “I’ve watched and been a fan of both of theirs for as long as I can remember.”

Then there’s “Carriers,” which Chris  describes as “a post-apocalyptic, psychological thriller … it’s been a busy, fulfilling year.”

At the luncheon, he was accepting a check for the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. “The HFPA is making a generous grant and my sister and my mom both went to UCLA, so I’m happy to be a part of it.”

How much do we love this guy?

I would like to again apologize for the late updates. I had every intention of doing exactly what I had previously said I was going to do but as fate would have it after my wonderful week leading up to my birthday the night of my birthday I came down with some sort of flu like symptoms and it’s lasted since then. Thankfully after much needed sleep, water and some flu meds I’m feeling much better so I’m going to try and catch up on what I’ve missed. 🙂 Thanks to everyone who wished me birthday wishes, I really loved reading them.

Moving on, I’ve added 39 high quality photos of Chris attending the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Annual Installation Luncheon from August 11th.

Hey guys! I wanted to apologize for no updates the past week. I’ve been busy, as you can all assume 😉 but also my birthday is this Sunday and I’ve been out with friends and going to others birthday parties etc. So what time I have had to post I’m too exhausted or sadly it’s storming and when it storms I don’t take the chance of my computer being electrocuted ( again ) so I always turn it off.

Anyhow I’ll have updates sometime next week, I promise! You can expect “The Guardian” captures and hopefully if all goes right video too. Video from Chris’s brief role on “Six Feet Under” as well as Bottle Shock movie captures once I have the chance to cap the movie.

Also! Anyone watching the Teen Choice Awards this Monday if perhaps you can catch Chris if he happens to pop up or actually win that would be amazing. I won’t have the opportunity to watch it myself as I have prior engagements that night.

Thanks for being so amazing and patient.

Courtesy of IconvsIcon.com for the interview with actor Reggie Bannister, which as it turns out has his own hand in Chris’s upcoming film “Small Town Saturday Night”.

You can read what Reggie had to say about Chris below.

What can fans your fans catch you in next?
There’s another “mainstream” picture that we shot up here where I live, up in the mountains, called ‘Small Town Saturday Night.’ I am in that, but we also provided a lot of production services for that project. We found all of the locations. There were over thirty locations, which for a low budget picture is a lot of moving around. Obviously, we found them at a real decent price or they wouldn’t be able to afford thirty plus locations. We contributed a lot to the production. Like I said, I am in it. Gigi has a little cameo in it as a matter of fact. The project features a lot of good actors. John Hawkes, Chris Pine, Robert Pine, Lin Shaye are in it. Of course Chris is now Captain Kirk. We just had a cast and crew screening on that picture about two months ago. I was talking to Chris and I went, “dude, are you having people jumping out of bushes with cameras?” and he goes, “yeah.” I go, “well, I really kind of like my level of celebrity dude. I said, “I live in a small mountain community and everybody kind of knows me, but nobody is all over me and I don’t have to live in a compound or put walls up all around me, but you may want to buy an island somewhere in the Bermudas. He goes, “I know man.” Chris is a very fine actor and I hope now that he is Captain Kirk, people go back and look at some of the other stuff he has done. He was in “Smokin’ Aces.” He was great in ‘Smokin’ Aces.’ He was in ‘Just My Luck,’ the Lindsay Lohan movie. He was great in that. For a young guy, he embraces character parts. I think it is because of the way he was brought up with his dad and his dad has always been a character actor. He’s a terrific actor and he has his head really screwed on tight, which made me feel good because he was all of a sudden catapulted into this part and into this kind of situation that he is now dealing with. I was a little concerned about it, but after talking to him at this cast and crew screening, he’s good for it. He’ll do great at whatever he does. I would think that that would find distribution sometime probably sooner than later, just due to the cast.
